Birdwatching: Birdfeeders
with birdseed are provided at the cottages so you can sit on the
verandah and feed and watch the cheeky mountain parrots and bowerbirds.
King parrots, rainbow and scaly -breasted lorikeets are daily visitors.
In autumn the rare Glossy Black red tailed Cockatoos feed on the
Casuarina trees surrounding the cottages. In spring scarlet honeyeaters
are a delight to watch. |

Swimming: With 1
kilometre of Christmas Creek frontage and some to the best deep
rock pools the swimming is terrific. Tractor tubes for lazing in
and snorkel gear to explore the creek life are available. BBQ’s
and picnic areas exclusively for guests use are adjacent to the
creek. |

|
Bushwalking: Tracks
have been graded throughout the property and are sign posted. Suggested
fitness levels, time frames as well as a map of the property are
also provided. The walk to Cave Rock via Wild Mint Ridge is well worth the effort with stunning views of the ancient escarpments of the Scenic Rim and Christmas Creek Valley. Leisurely walks alongside Christmas Creek give
guests the opportunity to catch a glimpse of a platypus. |

Fishing: A variety of fish including Australian Bass are found in Christmas Creek. Relax by the creek and enjoy a spot of fishing - only 'catch & release' fishing allowed.

Farm Activities:
Feeding the chickens and collecting their eggs is popular particularly with children. There is also "Ralph" the very friendly pet pig who loves a feed and a pat as well as the cows, often with calves at foot. |

Spotlighting Tours: Spotlighting
can be arranged to observe the wildlife at night. Possums, sugar
gliders, owls, wallabies and bandicoots can be viewed at close range.
View catfish guarding their nests and hopefully glimpse the elusive
platypus feeding. |
Cave Rock Cottages are situated in the Scenic
Rim - a sweeping arc of ranges formed millions of years ago by
dramatic volcanic activity, enclosing dozens of creeks and fertile
valleys - there is lots to explore and hosts Jim and Rose are
only to willing to help with details on suggested drives, dinning

National Parks: There
are short and all day self drive trips exploring the many National
Parks of the Scenic Rim. World-heritage listed Lamington National
Park including the Lost World, Mt Tamborine and Green Mountains
or Mt Barney National Park taking in the Lower Portal and Flanagans
Reserve or explore the Border Ranges by taking the magnificent Lions
Road Drive which winds through the very scenic valleys of Running
Creek and Brindle Creek. |

Heritage Towns: Drive
through some of Australia’s most prestigious Horse Studs and
discover such heritage towns as Rathdowney, Mt Alford, Boonah and
Canungra. Enjoy country style fare at historic pubs or indulge yourself
at one of the many fine eteries, cafes or restaurants. |

Wine Trails: The
Scenic Rim is one of the fastest growing wine regions in Queensland
and its rich volcanic soils are producing premium wines. Follow
the Scenic rim Wine trail and/or the Gold Coast Hinterland Wine
trail visiting such wineries as the 2003 & 2004 award wining
Albert River Winery, the historic Canungra Valley Vineyards or the
Kooroomba Vineyards and Lavender Farm. |

Bushwalking: Cave
Rock Cottages are close to the southern entrance of Lamington National
Park. Walk through rainforest wilderness to Westray’s Grave
Site and get an insight into the amazing efforst of Bernard O’Reilly
and the legend of the Stinson air crash. |

4wd Driving: For
the 4wd enthusiast the popular Duck Creek Road drive which begins
at the base of the beautiful Kerry Valley and winds its way to the
top of Lamington Plateau is a must. this road is the ideal way to
visit the famous O’Reillys Rainforest Resort, Green Mountains
and the exhilarating Tree Top Walk. Misty rainforest, stunning lookouts
and picnic areas are all apart of this adventure. |
